Revealed: The direct role for the Al-Thani family of Qatar in financing and arming Houthis
An American expert and researcher in Yemeni affairs revealled a direct role for the Al-Thani family of Qatar in financing and arming the Iran-backed Houthis.
"Several US contractors have provided evidence of Qatar’s role in financing and providing drones for the Houthis. It links members of the Al Thani inner circle". Human rights lawyer & national security analyst, Irina Tsukerman said.
The evidence included bank accounts, audio and video records, names of participating attorneys and shell companies, sworn affidavits by cooperating informants. Tsukerman added.
She confirmed that she have personally had an opportunity to examine the evidence and had met the contractors involved in person.
Based on examining the evidence, the role of Qatar's royal family members in the transfer and funding of drones to the Houthis is undeniable.
With the GCC summit imminent, this raises questions about any potential breakthrough in the reconciliation talks between members of the Anti-Terrorism Quartet and Qatar.
She said the evidence is so serious and raises such profound issues that the US federal authorities are already calling for the testimonies from these contractors in the course of independent inquiry into this matter.
The contractors have verbally confirmed to Tsukerman that this information being sought by US federal government and that they are looking to cooperate.
Furthermore, the fact that an international body and the US federal government have started investigations into the information presented, shows that the situation is quite serious and that the concerns over the direct role of the Al Thani family is rising.
Most recently, Qatar has been lobbying the US for sale of F35s, but its rejection of Abraham Accords and now increasingly confirmed role in providing and financing drones to Houthis makes Doha a threat to US, Israeli, Saudi/UAE/Bahraini security. She argued.
