White House announces Lebanon-Israel talks to resolve border demarcation, other disputes
A senior White House official told Al Arabiya English on Tuesday that the United States is facilitating talks between Lebanon and Israel to diplomatically address several unresolved issues.
These include the release of Lebanese prisoners held by Israel, disputed border points along the Blue Line, and the five points still occupied by Israeli forces.
Military-to-military discussions took place in southern Lebanon on Tuesday, and as part of the talks, Israel released five prisoners to Lebanon, the official said.
“The parties involved remain committed to upholding the ceasefire agreement and fully implementing all its terms,” the White House official stated. “We look forward to swiftly bringing together diplomat-led working groups to resolve these issues, in collaboration with our international partners.”
