by : Yemen Details

The residents of Khaifa village in the western district of Maqbana in Yemen's Taiz appealed to the Yemeni government and international donor organizations to pay attention to the suffering of their children in Osama School, which may collapse over their heads at any moment, and to work on supporting them in rehabilitating it.

School principal Abdullah Bajash said: "The school consists of three classrooms built in 1990 at the expense of the local residents. The roofs were constructed with soil, not cement, due to the lack of support for completion. It remained without internal finishes or furnishings for years before being halted by the Houthi rebels." He explained that the school needs to be renovated and three additional classrooms need to be established.

Students and local residents said that the school, since the Houthi takeover of their area and before the arrival of the joint forces to liberate it, was turned into a military barracks by the Houthis and education was banned in it. They confirmed that the school resumed operation after the liberation of Barasha area from the Houthis, but it did not receive any government support.
